Virgo

Parthenos

August 21st - September 21st

The “I Analyze” energy of the Zodiac, Virgo comes forth to give everything a closerr look. Virgo values purity and perfection, and wishes to reachh their highest possible form for themselves, and everyone else around them. This energy is extremely powerful, but Virgo can struggle to express it, leaving a sense of inferiority. This energy is tasked with patience and finds its fullest expression in service to others, as long as it can control their critical and independent nature.

This is a comfortable, familiar transit. Mercury rules over Virgo and Gemini, so when it is transiting either one it can reach its fullest expression. This transit will amplify the effects of both energie, empowering each other.

Detriment:

Jupiter

This is an uncomfortable placement for Jupiter because Virgo’s detail oriented nature slows down Jupiter’s quest for expansion. When these two mix it makes for complications in energetic expression, but that isn’t always a bad thing as it can teach us expansion in different areas.

Exalted:

Mercury

This is the fullest expression the true nature of both of these energies.

Mercury Placed in the Virgo Zodiac

Fall:

Venus

When a planet is in Fall placement it is considered to be its weakest expression. In this case, that is because the analytical, independent energy of Virgo doesn’t full Venus’s needs for unconditional love. Virgo is a heady sign but Venus is all about the heart. With this placement there is a constant push and pull for power, which results in little forward movement of energies.

Universal Standpoint

Known as the “Womb of Time”, Virgo is the sign where Source’s plans are worked out through suffering, struggle, pain, and conflict, all of which can set the consciousness free from its earthly binds.

Myths of the Virgo Constellation

Astraea, the Star Maiden, Goddess of Innocence and Purity, lived amongst mortals during the Golden Age (the first and most ideal stage of humanity). But as the ages progressed, so too did humanity’s wickedness and corruption. When Astraea could no longer bear it she retreated to the sky to become the Virgo constellation.

An 1886 bas-relief figure of Astraea in the Old Supreme Court Chamber at the Vermont State House.

A lot of the information in this section comes from my own personal experience and higher channelings, but I used one main source to fact check myself and fill in any gaps in my knowledge. I have been working with this book for years and I’ve found it to be one of the most concise and straightforward works on Astrology to date. This section wouldn’t have been entirely possible to create without the accompanying works of Isabel M Hickey and her book Astrology: A Cosmic Science.
